WEBSITE REDESIGN - HATTRICK
Date
January 4, 2024
For this project, my role was to redesign the landing page and improve user experience for both new visitors and also for those who already have an account as well as optimise the page to increase conversion rate.
One of the requirements was to keep the illustrations on the landing page because that is something users associate the game with.
First I would like to point out the things that I would like to address in the improved design.
The top part of the page felt too heavy and lacked a clear hierarchy, which made navigation difficult. As a potential player, I found it challenging to quickly understand what 'Hattrick' is. Although the information was present, it required effort to locate. Similarly, the 'Get a team' and 'Sign-up' options did not clearly indicate that they initiate the game, and they did not seem inviting to users.
Number statistics are great way to show company's accomplishments but such a long numbers are hard for brain to process.
The largest section of the page was dedicated to explaining what the game is about and its benefits. However, this section was too lengthy and contained too much information. To improve this, it needed to be more engaging and focused only on the most important details.
CHANGES
There is a clear hierarchy, the page is divided into sections with their own headlines.
The navigation (menu) is placed where users would expect it including sign up and log in buttons.
The header itself is bold and it shows users what is the website about.
Mockup with the tablet looks dynamic and users can better imagine how the game looks like.
There is also an inviting headline with clear CTA (Call to Action) that is also inviting new users to try the game.
What is Hattrick about?
In this section there is a picture from the game, again, to get a better idea of what it looks like.
The bullet points summarize the game itself.
There is something about Hattrick
Testimonials that can be scrolled through and users can see how many of them you have. They can be scrolling automatically.
We have been in the game since 1997
I picked only four of the statistic so it is easy for users to digest it. The other numbers are probably not that interesting for users.
Also making the numbers shorter can help to reduce information overload and share the message.
Your time is now
This section should highlight the benefits of this game. It is important that it is clear and simple because otherwise it will be hard to get out of it what is important.
There is a CTA so the users don’t have to scroll up if they decide to try the game.
Join the community
Promoting the mobile with engaging visual and buttons to download the app.
Based on user research, promoting the app might be more important so then it would be moved to the top of the page.
Footer
The last section is usually better when it is separated from the rest of the page so when you scroll you know that you have reached the bottom without thinking about it.
